Everyone knows that it’s a science that music affects your mood. Some can add a spring to your step, and generally pep up your day while others can make you want to bust out your best moves and sing like nobody's listening. I compiled a list of my top 5 happy songs, something I like to use to boost my day. Now more than ever, we could all use a tiny boost of happiness.
1. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun- Cyndi Lauper
Cyndi Lauper herself described this one as a “blatantly feminist” anthem and I couldn’t agree more. This one makes me feel giddily upbeat while wanting to dance on every piece of furniture in my living room. It’s also something I unapologetically belt out every. Single. Time.
2. Can’t Stop the Feeling- Justin Timberlake
I first heard this funky number in the movie “Trolls” during the credit scene and I couldn’t help but boogie to myself. To me, it’s one of those songs you blast out your car with the windows down. (In fact, all the songs on this list are.)
3. Adore You- Harry Styles
Harry Styles described this song as the initial bliss of entering a relationship. It’s a mid-tempo catchy banger that makes me want to groove along with every note. After all, who doesn’t want to be adored by Harry Freaking Styles?
4. Good As hell- Lizzo
This self-love anthem is a constant reminder to realize that you’re capable of anything you fathom- even if you don’t think so. I feel this one in my bones. As though I’m the main character in a coming of age movie. I feel good as hell!
5. The edge of glory- Lady Gaga
Although this song is about a person’s last moments on earth, Lady Gaga’s soulful vocals and lyrics on this pop track make it an ode to living life to the fullest. The incredibly powerful lyrics are an affirmation to the joys and happiness of existence!
