The shortest skincare routine

I get it, having a multi-step skincare regimen is hard. And I’m no expert like Hyram but I think I have it figured out for my skin type. If there’s one thing that’s keeping my routine in check during this pandemic, it is taking care of my skin daily. Plus there’s the added benefit of boasting a clear complexion. Whether you’re here to get inspired or you’re a skincare veteran, I’m sure you’ll find something to take away or at least a chance to nod in agreement.

Morning extravaganza:

Okay, it’s not an extravaganza but it is a short 2-step routine. WHAT? TWO STEP? I know we’ve all heard the “cleanse, tone, moisturize” mantra. But guess what? I used to rely on witch hazel. And one day I stopped. Nothing happened. I’m so dependent on my regimen to wake me up! It’s my version of a coffee break (yes, I don’t actually drink coffee).

I start off with The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser. I didn’t know it for the longest time since I tend not to read the instructions, but you’re supposed to apply this one to dry skin and then use water to wash it off. It always makes my face feel so soft and supple and almost squeaky clean. This is my go-to for whenever I need to cleanse.

I follow that up with the L'Oreal Paris Hydra Genius Daily moisturizer. This is the best thing I have ever tried! It’s fast-absorbing and does not have an oily residue.

Nighttime Shenanigan:

Although my nighttime routine is longer, it helps with my sleep hygiene since doing it makes me feel sleepy almost instantly. Once again, I use the same cleanser at the end of the day but have 3 additional steps.

I use the L'Oréal - HA specialist eye cream for my under eyes. It prevents (and removes) those pesky eye bags and feels so nourishing.

I finish off my face routine with The Ordinary Rose Hip Seed Oil. Granted, it does not smell the best. But it gets things done.

And finally, I end my routine using the Laniege Lip Sleeping Mask. This works wonders.

So there you have it. That’s my basic skincare routine. I usually also use a clay mask and hydrogel patches once a week. Following this routine gave me the ability to see and maintain the clear skin I’ve always wanted. OH and sunscreen. Don’t skip that!
